Biography: Jason’s interest in music began at a very early age. He was probably four years old when he got his first guitar as a Christmas gift from his late grandfather, Millard P. Warren. He can remember as a child his dad (Barry) casually sitting around the house with his guitar, singing songs that were recorded by Country Music Legends like Merle Haggard & George Jones and that’s when he fell in love with music.
At the age of 15 he joined a country/southern rock band playing the bass guitar. The band performed in local clubs playing everything from Bob Seger to Keith Whitley. It was during this time that he was able to work on timing and chord progression to different types of beats that would help him in the development of my "ear for music".
At the age of 19 he visited a small Pentecostal church in Geneva, Kentucky and heard a different type of music that he absolutely fell in love with. It was in this small Pentecostal church he was introduced to upbeat hymns and southern gospel music that was filled with the sound of flat top guitars, thumb style guitar picking, Jerry Lee Lewis style piano playing, bluegrass banjo, and three-part harmony singing.
As of today, he and his wife, Heather, serve as worship leader and senior group youth pastors in this same church. Green River Pentecostal Church is located in Geneva, Kentucky. ================================================================================ Who Is Your Biggest Influence? My dad is my biggest influence. His ability to play guitar, sing, and write songs encouraged me from a little boy to pursue my dreams in music.
Where Would You Be Without Music? Music has been one of those things that keep me going. From learning new songs, or writing that song that hits directly at the heart of the listener, is challenging, fun, and gives me a drive to keep doing what I do.
What Made You Want To Sign With Salter Gann Universal Promotions And Management, LLC? Their experience in the music industry, knowledge of the business, honesty and integrity, is what convinced me to sign.
What Is Your Ultimate Goal? To write and sing songs that make a difference in the lives of people. I've found that many times a song can touch people much deeper than a spoken word. I want to be able to encourage others and help them on their journey through my music.
What Is A Fun Fact, Story, Or Quirk About You? I once was officiating a wedding from a boat dock. As the bride was coming down the aisle, a wind gust blew my ceremony notes into the water. While trying to retrieve them with everyone watching the bride, I accidentally fell into the water making a huge splash. It was all caught on video, made national headlines, and I still meet people in public today who I do not know that ask me "are you the preacher that fell in the pond?"
